I constantly get emails from concerned moms or new-to-makeup teens asking which products are age appropriate for girls age 12-18. Personally, i feel that at such a young age, natural beauty is #1, but there are some girls out there who wants to express their inner glam (or hide their unwanted acne). Here's a look from Sosie Bacon (Kevin Bacon's daughter) and although she is 21 years old, I think this is a perfect look for teens or even college grads to try. Here's how!
Step 1: Start with moisturizer (try our Daily Moisture Stick). It will hydrate skin, making it look and feel softer and smoother and will act as a great base for makeup.
Step 2: If your skin is clear and you just need to even out some redness, go for our BB Cream! it will hide any imperfections, while giving just enough coverage. Less is more especially on young skin! If you are acne prone, DON'T opt for a heavier coverage foundation, just apply concealer where needed (try our Studio Concealer).
Step 3: Next step is highlighting skin. I would opt for either blush OR bronzer, but not both as it can make you look over done. If your skin is in dire need of some color, opt for bronzer. If you just want that fresh glow, apply a blush on the apples of the cheeks. Our Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream is perfect for this- you've got the best of both worlds! (TIP: Stick to creams for young skin, powders can settle into lines and make you look older).
Step 4: Emphasize your eyes with just two products- eyeliner and mascara. Don't go for eyeshadow unless its a special occasion or a night out, or you'll can risk looking a little over the top. Imagine a 12 year old at school with full on eyeshadow? Too much. Experiment with different eyeliner colors if you prefer a pop of color. It's fresh, fun and perfect for the younger crowd. As for mascara- go with black and go for a lengthening formula. This will make lashes look amazing without looking clumpy or spidery.
Step 5: Finish off with a tinted lip gloss or lip balm. Jumbo Lip Gloss Sticks or Lip Balm Tints are the perfect subtle lip color with just the right amount of sheen, plus you can just toss them in your backpack and reapply whenever needed!
